Running with the Stars will be celebrating our 12th season in Fall2016!

Mission Statement:
Running with the Stars is an after school program consisting of girls and boys in first through sixth grade in the Northern Virgina and Maryland area. Participants train after school two times a week with a coach, typically a parent or teacher, to prepare for a 5K run/jog. This is a non-competitive activity where we encourage the kids to strive for their own personal best. Our goal is to promote overall health and an interest in exercise. Ultimately, the kids will have a great time being active with their friends and build confidence along the way.

The Running with the Stars team believes in boosting a kid's confidence by helping them achieve their goals through running.

We provide a basic training guide for our coaches that outlines key areas for practices.

Keeping the kids safe, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and making practices fun are important for a successful program.

Practices are held twice per week over an 11 week season.

Our coaches create practice plans using information from the training manual to fit their group of runners.
They incorporate games and healthy lifestyle topics while working towards the goal of running in the end of season 5K run.
